BRUNSWICK, Maine – After a three-year absence, the Bowdoin College field hockey team is returning to the NCAA Division III Tournament, earning an at-large selection announced Sunday evening.
The Polar Bears will host a first-round game on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. against the University of Scranton at Ryan Field. The winner will advance to regional play next weekend, November 15–16, at Babson College.
Bowdoin (9–7) finished 14th in the final NPI rankings to secure a Pool C berth. The Polar Bears compiled one of the nation's toughest schedules and opened the season 9–2 before a late stretch that included five straight losses—three of them by a single goal. Scranton (17-3) won the Landmark Conference for the first time since 2021 and ended the year ranked 36
th in the NPI.
One of the most successful programs in Division III field hockey history, Bowdoin will make its 15th NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2021, when it advanced to the Elite Eight. Under head coach
Nicky Pearson, the Polar Bears have captured four national championships.
