Bowdoin Set to Host Scranton in NCAA First Round Wednesday Afternoon

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College field hockey team will return to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time since 2021 when they host University of Scranton in a first round match Wednesday evening at 4 p.m. on Ryan Field.

The field will open at 3 p.m. Wednesday evening with tickets being $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and children over 2. Bowdoin students are free w/ID. For those who cannot attend, the game will be carried live on NCAA Champs Pass

Bowdoin College Polar Bears (9-7, NESCAC Quarterfinalist) – Schedule – Statistics
The Polar Bears are making their 15th NCAA Division III Tournament appearance and first since 2021…Bowdoin has won four NCAA Championships (2007, '08, '10, '13) overall and owns a 32-10 record all-time in tournament play, including a 17-0 record all-time in NCAA games at Ryan Field…Bowdoin opened the season with a 5-0 run only to be interrupted by a pair of overtime setbacks…the Polar Bears played four consecutive overtime games and went 2-2… two of those wins were victories over Williams and Middlebury… the Polar Bears enter the tournament as the 14th-ranked team in the country… Emily Ferguson leads the team with 11 goals and nine assists and received First Team All-NESCAC honors… Midfielders Clara Noyes (2-4-8) and Maddie Mrva (3-6-12) both tallied Second Team Selections and play pivotal roles in controlling play for Bowdoin… Lauren O'Donald has a 1.64 GAA and .728 save percentage in her senior season… in her 29th season at Bowdoin, NFHCA Hall of Famer Nicky Pearson enters the NCAA Tournament with a career mark of 404-109 (.788).

University of Scranton (17-3, Landmark Champions) – ScheduleStatistics
The Royals return to the NCAA Tournament after picking up the program's third Landmark Conference title in 3-0 win over defending conference champion Susquehanna… Scranton has made the national tournament three times and earned a 3-2 win over Ursinus in overtime in their last NCAA appearance in 2021 … the Royals blew through conference play with a perfect record and scored a combined six goals in two games to earn the Landmark title… senior Annie Shaw leads the Royals with 19 goals and four assists and was the second leading scorer in the conference… Shana Goldsmith and Maggie Keys both had double-digit scoring seasons and Keys led the league with 18 assists… MacLean Thuermer allowed just ten goals this season with a .617 GAA and .821 save percentage… Scranton put up eight shutouts this season… head coach Colleen Moyer is the program's all-time wins leader (237-137) and has taken the Royals to the conference title three times (2019, '21, '25).
