Mackenzie Leads Strong Effort By Women's Cross Country at State Meet

GRAY, Maine – Paced by a second-place finish from Cameron Mackenzie, the Bowdoin women's cross country team placed third at the Maine State Meet on Saturday at Pineland Farms.
 
Meet Highlights
  • The Polar Bears totaled 76 points to trail only Bates (27) and Colby (46) in the final standings, among nine teams overall.
  • In cool but firm conditions on a challenging course, Mackenzie paired up with teammate Leila Trummel and moved up steadily over the course of the race.
  • Mackenzie ran an exceptional final mile to rise all the way to second place in 18:57.2, taking runner-up and earning All-State honors.
  • Trummel finished the 5K course in 19:17.0, earning eighth overall while Abby Mueller's personal best of 20:12.7 took 19th.
  • Emma Noel (20:35.3) and Claire Wyman (21:38.1) rounded out the Polar Bear scorers.

  • Bowdoin is off next weekend and will return to action on October 16 at the Suffolk Invitational in Boston.
