BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin junior Hannah Balmelli has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week. 

Balmelli scored the game-winning goal in consecutive days as the Polar Bears defeated a pair of top-ten teams in one-goal victories last weekend at Ryan Field. On Saturday, Balmelli put home a scramble in front of the net with 3:46 to go, giving Bowdoin a 2-1 win over fifth-ranked Wesleyan. Then, on Sunday, Balmelli scored the game's only goal early in the second half of a 1-0 victory against tenth-ranked Williams.

The Polar Bears remain at Howard F. Ryan Field, continuing NESCAC play welcoming Middlebury on Saturday slated for an 11:00 a.m. start time.
