WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Bowdoin College track & field teams came away with four individual titles in an outstanding weekend at the New England Small College Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Williams College last weekend.
The Polar Bear men finished fourth overall, their best finish at the conference championship since 2018, while the women placed seventh at the meet.
Men's Meet Highlights
- The Polar Bears finished with 90 team points, trailing only Amherst (159), Tufts (154), and Middlebury (141).
- Charlie Aucoin was the highlight for the Polar Bears, winning both the shot put (15.03m) and discus (48.83m). He becomes the first Bowdoin athlete to win multiple events at the NESCAC Championship since John Pietro won the shot put and hammer throw in 2018.
- Henry Risch was runner up in the shot put (14.00m), giving Bowdoin a 1-2 finish in the event.
- Other second place finishes came from Omar Frostman El-Hmaini in the triple jump (14.42m) and Kane Demers in the 110 hurdles (14.68). Oliver Brandes was third in the 800m event (1:52.30).
- Bowdoin had two relay teams finish in runner-up spots, including the 4x100 relay of Noah Rockey, Lorenzo Shields, Ronan O'Flaherty, and Kane Demers (41.15) and the 4x400 team of Shields, Will Silverstein, O'Flaherty and Rockey.
Women's Meet Highlights
- The Polar Bears finished with 48 points to take seventh spot, just ahead of Trinity (41) and trailing Conn College (53).
- Bowdoin claimed two individual crowns, led by Kennedy Kirkland's NESCAC record distance of 5.91 meters in the long jump while Mardy Novak won the javelin with a throw of 43.27m.
- Novak also took a runner-up finish in the shot put with a throw of 12.35m. '
- Laura White also earned a top-five finish, placing fifth in the 1500m (4:34.48).
