Men's Track & Field Takes Second Place at Maine State Championship

LEWISTON, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's track and field team placed second at the 2026 Maine State Indoor Championships hosted on Saturday by Bates.

Meet Highlights

The Polar Bears finished as runners-up, totaling a team score of 187.5, trailing only Bates (208) and easily out-distancing third place Colby (117).
Kane Demers won two events for Bowdoin, claiming the 60 hurdles (8.30) and the long jump (6.82m). He also placed second in both the 60 meters (7.10) and 200m (22.81).
Matthew Servin won the mile competition, finishing in a time of 4:22.13 to claim the state championship. He also placed third in the 1000 meter race (2:37.65).
Other strong showings on the track for the Polar Bears included second place finishes by Seamus McDonough in the 3000 meters (8:53.02), Axel Nzi in the 5k (15:42.39) and the men's 4x400 (3:28.48) courtesy of Lorenzo Shields, Joseph Phillips, Noah Rockey, and Ronan O'Flaherty.
In the field events Omar Frostman El-Hmaini took second place in the triple jump (13.20m) and Charlie Aucoin took third in both the weight throw (15.19m) and shot put (14.62m).

The Polar Bears return to Farley Field House next week for the Lynn Ruddy Invitational on Friday and Saturday, February 13-14.
