Track & Field Teams Open 2026 Calendar at Tufts and Bates

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Bowdoin College indoor track & field season opened 2026 with several strong performances at the Branwen Smith King Invitational at Tufts and Bates Multi Event this weekend.

Men's Highlights

At Tufts Kane Demers won the 60 hurdles (8.35) and was second in the 200 meters (22.64) while Noah Rockey won the 60 meter dash in a time of 7.03 seconds.
Joseph Phillips was edged out at the line in the 60 hurdles by Demers but posted an identical 8.35 time. Both Demers and Phillips' times are top-50 NCAA marks coming out of the weekend.
Demers also claimed the long jump (7.16) with Ethan Heldman placing seconds in the pole vault (4.45m) and Charlie Aucoin ending as runner-up in the shot put (14.59m)
Demers long jump is ranked 12^th in Division III after this weekend.

Women's Highlights

At Tufts Caitlin Heus-Smith placed second in the triple jump (10.35m) while Mardy Novak claimed second in the shot put (11.85m) to post Bowdoin's top individual performances of the day.
Sophie Maguire (3.30m) was third in the pole vault and Sophia Young was third in the long jump (5.02m) for the Polar Bears.
On the track Cam Meyer was third in the 1000 meters (3:07.04) and Catherine Uwakwe placed third in the 60 hurdles (9.26).
At Bates, Rose Jenkins (2596) and Sara Schubert (2385) went 4-5 in the pentathlon.
Uwakwe's 60 hurdles time and Jenkins' pentathlon total both rank in the top 50 in Division III.

Bowdoin is back in action next weekend at the Gordon Kelly Invitational at MIT.
