BRUNSWICK, Maine – Three members of the Bowdoin College outdoor track & field team will compete at the NCAA Division III Championship that begins Thursday in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Max Russo (men's 400m hurdles),
Charlotte Hodge (women's pole vault), and
Kennedy Kirkland (women's long jump) will represent the Polar Bears at the championship, hosted May 23-25 at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
Hodge comes into the championship meet seeded 12
th in Division III with a height of 3.83m reached at the Swanson Invitational hosted by Wesleyan on March 23. Hodge will compete on Thursday in the finals of the event, beginning at noon.
Kirkland qualified for nationals in the long jump following a school-record distance of 5.77m at the NESCAC Championships on April 27. The women's long jump preliminaries and finals are slated for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
Russo enters the championship as the seventh seed in the men's 400m hurdles, posting a time of 52.27 at the Farley Inter Regional at Williams on May 10. The school record holder in the event, Russo will compete in the preliminaries on Thursday at 6:25 p.m. with hopes of advancing to Saturday's final at 6:25 p.m.
