Track & Field Competes at Open New England Championship

DEDHAM, Mass. – The Bowdoin College track & field team competed at the NEICAAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 12-13 at Northeastern University. The Polar Bears posted numerous impressive finishes in a field that included numerous Division I programs.
 
Meet Highlights
  • Both teams took 20th place overall in 40+ team fields with the women's team earning 16 points and the men posting 11.
  • Kianne Benjamin led the way for the Polar Bears, winning the 200m (24.25), a top-five time in Division III this season in prelims (11.94), and took fourth in the 100m (12.08) finals.
  • Ajay Olson posted the top finish for the men's team, earning a second-place finish in the 200m (21.18), setting a new school record and placing him among the top-20 in Division III.
  • Other top finishes for the women's team included Stephanie Chun placing eighth in the 5k (17:53.61) and Emma Barker taking ninth in the steeplechase (11:36.59).
  • For the men's team Max Russo was sixth in the 400 hurdles (53.76), his second-best mark of the year, while Sam Angevine placed ninth with an outdoor 5k personal best of 14:52.74.

  • The Polar Bears are scheduled to compete in the MIT Last Chance Meet on Thursday, May 18, with the NCAA Division III Championship field set to be announced on Friday, May 19.
