BOSTON, Mass. – The Bowdoin College indoor track and field teams enjoyed a fantastic weekend at the New England Division III Championships last weekend in Boston. The Polar Bear men placed fifth overall while the women took sixth and the squad came away with a pair of individual New England titles for their efforts.
Charlotte Hodge defended her New England crown in the pole vault while the women's 4x400 team of
Katherine Page,
Gabby Phillips,
Cianna O'Flaherty and
Kianne Benjamin also came away with a New England championship.
The men totaled 50 points to take fifth place in the 35-team field while the women placed sixth of 41 teams with 57 points.
Women's Meet Highlights
- Charlotte Hodge won the New England pole vault title for the second straight year, clearing a height of 3.88 for a new collegiate best and moved her into 6th on the NCAA Division III performance list this winter.
- Kianne Benjamin took second in the 200m, breaking her own school record by nearly a half-second (24.75) while also taking third in the 60m (7.65), vaulting up the D3 performance lists in both categories.
- Benjamin also ran a stellar anchor leg in Bowdoin's 4x400 win with Page, Phillips, and O'Flaherty, as they moved up to 12th in the NCAA performance list with a winning time of 3:53.47, clearing the rest of the field by more than two seconds.
- Emma Hargreaves set a new PR in the weight throw (16.01m) to take 2nd place overall.
- Leila Trummel was fourth in the mile (5:05.10), and ran a leg on Bowdoin's third place 4x800 team of Emma Noel, Lex Davis, and Lauren Traum (9:29.42).
- Traum also took seventh in the 1000m (3:01.88), a two-second career-best, and now ranks 10th on Bowdoin's all-time list in the event, along with running a strong anchor leg on the 4x800.
- Inga Dovre was also seventh in the pentathlon, establishing a new career-best overall mark with PRs in four out of five events to finish with 2,768 points.
Men's Meet Highlights
- Ajay Olson was the runner-up in 200m (season-best 21.43) by a mere .02 seconds, ranking him ninth in D3 with a team that was under former meet record.
- Max Russo was second in the 600m in a school-record time of 1:21.39. He also teamed with Olson on the runner-up 4x400 team along with Jared Joyce and Adepoju Arogundade in 3:19.50.
- Ian Stebbins racked up a school-record 4,558 points to take a runner-up finish in the heptathlon, with Dov Mcguire-Berk in sixth with 4,196 points.
- Nick Sibiryakov continued to set career bests with a fourth-place finish in the pole vault (4.64m), establishing a new personal mark for the second straight week and entering the top-50 on the D3 performance list.
- Cheng Xi posted a season-best distance of 6.85 meters in the long jump to take fifth overall.
- William Warlick took sixth in 60m hurdle finals in a time of 8.54 seconds.
