Benjamin and Hodge Earn All-American Status at NCAA Outdoor Championship

GENEVA, Ohio – Charlotte Hodge and Kianne Benjamin came away with All-American honors to highlight a successful weekend for the Bowdoin track & field team at the NCAA Division III Championship hosted by the SPIRE Institute in Ohio. 

Kianne Benjamin twice broke her own school record in earning All-American status in the 100m dash. Qualifying with a school-record time of 11.96 (15th in the country), Benjamin sprinted to a time of 11.94 in the prelims to earn a spot in the finals. In the finals on Saturday, she ran a torrid time of 11.84 seconds to place sixth and earn her second All-American honor of the year. Benjamin also earned All-American status at indoor nationals in the 60m dash. 

Charlotte Hodge picked up the first All-American honor of her career in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.80 meters to tie for eighth overall in her first trip to outdoor nationals. Hodge hit the 3.80 mark on her second attempt at the height, and was within 0.15 meters (5.9 inches) of the winning height.

In the final meet of her career, Serena Jonas finished 18th, three above her qualifying rank of 21st heading into nationals, with a score of 4,260 points. Highlighting the performance by Jonas was personal-best marks of 14.90 in the 100m hurdles and a throw of 9.41m in the shot put.
