BOWDOIN COLLEGE POLAR BEARS (16-2)

The Bowdoin College Polar Bears are enjoying an historic campaign this spring, having already shattered the program's record for consecutive wins (14 to start the season), as well as single-season victories (16)...the Polar Bears enter the NCAA Tournament as the 9th ranked team in the latest USILA Division III Coaches poll...head coach
Bill Mason is in his first season at the helm of the team, and led a sweep of the NESCAC major awards this year for Bowdoin, the first time in league history a team had won Coach (Mason), Player (
Donal Mullane) and Rookie (
Will Byrne) of the Year in the same season...Mullane, despite missing three games due to injury, has posted the most prolific offensive season in Bowdoin history, breaking the school's single-game points record (12 vs. Conn. College on April 23) and tying the school's single-game goals mark (8 vs. Clark on April 20) and becoming the first player in program history to surpass 100 points in a single season...he is tied for the Division III lead at 7.0 points/game this year and leads a high-scoring attack that stands 16th nationally at 17.06 goals/game...Mullane was joined on the NESCAC's First Team by faceoff specialist

COLORADO COLLEGE TIGERS (7-8)

Colorado College is making the program's ninth appearance in the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship…the Tigers are 1-0 at home, 1-0 at neutral sites and 1-8 in road games… CC was knocked out by eventual national champion Salisbury University in 2016 and RIT in 2021… the Tigers won the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference with a 17-12 victory over Southwestern University on Sunday, May 8, in Chicago. It marked the second time the Tigers earned an automatic berth, the first being in 2011 when CC defeated Birmingham Southern College in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship game. CC now is 9-1 conference tournament games…Mike Horowitz is in his first season as head coach at Colorado College. Horowitz came to CC after a highly-successful six-year run as an assistant coach at Division I Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, where he helped guide the Hawks to four Northeast Conference regular-season championships… Senior attackman Anders Erickson, a first-team all-HCLC selection, leads the team with 47 points and 25 assists, and is fourth with 22 goals. In less than two full seasons, Erickson is tied ninth in program history with 69 career assists, 16th with 133 points and 34th with 64 goals… Senior defender Sam DiMaio, the HCLC Defensive Player of the Year, already has set career highs of 43 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers. The Westport, Conn., product now ranks is 11th in program history with 38 caused turnovers and tied for 14th with 103 career ground balls.

ST. LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY SAINTS (13-4)

With the first win of the 2022 season, head coach Mike Mahoney surpassed IMLCA Hall of Famer Don Leet to become the all-time winningest coach in St. Lawrence lacrosse program history. He is in his 25th season with the Scarlet and Brown and holds a career record of 266-112 (.704)...This will be the Saints first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2017. In 2016, the Saints made a run to the Final Four. Current assistant coach Jeremy Vautour was a senior on the team that advanced to the final four...Both Chris Jordan and Mark Mahoney surpassed the 100 career-point milestone in the 2022 season...Saints' goaltender William Helm was named Liberty League Co-Defensive Player of the Year. He ranks 20th nationally with a 8.15 goals against average and 13th nationally with a .610 save percentage...Seven Saints were earned All-Liberty League honors – First Team: Chris Jordan, Judge Murphy, Joe Scarfi, William Helm, Second Team: Padraic Condon, Honorable Mention: Jack Hennessey...Chris Jordan ranks sixth in the Saints' record book for assists in a season with 43, while Jack Hennessey ranks 10th for goals in a season with 45. Jordan is also tied for ninth with 81 points thus far...Mark Mahoney and Joe Scarfi were named Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American's, while Scarfi was also tabbed a midseason All-American.

SUNY CORTLAND RED DRAGONS (13-6)

Cortland is making its 21st consecutive NCAA Div. III appearance and 30th overall and has a record of 48-27 (42-18 over the last 20 appearances) in the Div. III tournament. The Red Dragons won NCAA Div. III titles in 2006 and 2009 and finished second in 1980 and 1981 (the first two Div. III championship games), 2007, 2008 and 2012. The Red Dragons' national title in 2006 was their first on the Div. III level, though they won a Div. II crown in 1975 and were the USILA College Division champions in 1973...Eleven Red Dragons earned All-SUNYAC honors. Seniors Dante Yacavone and Troy Morris and junior Jake Smeader garnered first team accolades, while graduate students Jacob Rivers and Brandon Stiles, seniors Kyle Boden, Christopher Dovi, Dominck Natale and Justin Wainwright and sophomores Matt Amato and Travis Wagner earned second team honors...Cortland earned the automatic NCAA Div. III playoff berth after winning the SUNYAC Tournament, defeating Oneonta, 19-13, in the semifinals and besting Geneseo, 7-6, in the championship game. Natale was named the Tournament MVP after recording 10 ground balls in the two games, including seven in the title game...The Red Dragons have won 10 consecutive games, the team's longest winning streak since 14 straight victories during the 2015 season.
