Cheng Xing Breaks Long Jump Mark For Men’s Track & Field at Silfen Invite

NEW LONDON, Conn. - Cheng Xing set a new program mark in the long jump as the Bowdoin College men's track and field team earned multiple New England qualifiers at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College this weekend. 

Meet Highlights
- Bowdoin finished ninth in the highly-competitive 20-school competition, totaling 48 points overall.
- Leading the way for Bowdoin was Cheng Xing, who blew away the field by over a foot and a half, winning the long jump in a school-record distance of 7.28m. 
- Max Russo raced to a second-place finish in the 400m hurdles (56.30) while Ore Shote took sixth in the discus (40.40m).
- In addition to the top finishes, Jared Joyce (400m), Will Goddard and Andrew Meredith (5000m), and Ben Bockmann (3000m steeplechase) also earned New England D3 qualifying standards.
