WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's indoor track team recorded a number of outstanding individual performances to take a third-place finish at the 2022 Maine State Intercollegiate Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday at Colby.
Colby won the tightly-contested meet with a team score of 200, followed by Bates (197) and Bowdoin (184.5) as the top three in the eight-team field.
Meet Highlights
- Undoubtedly the highlight for the Polar Bears was the performance of Lydia Pitts, who won the 60M hurdles (8.89), the long jump (5.48m), and the triple jump (12.19m) and was recognized as the George Towle Award winner as the top scorer in the meet. Pitts was even faster in the 60M hurdles in the preliminaries, recording a time of 8.87 to rank top-five nationally. Her triple jump distance currently ranks second in Division III.
- Cameron Mackenzie took a convincing win in the 1000M final (3:02.78) for Bowdoin while Abby Mueller won the 5000M (18:34.30).
- The 4x800 relay team of Cameron Mackenzie, Emma Noel, Stephanie Chun and Leila Trummel dominated the field by nearly 30 seconds in a winning time of 9:46.29.
- Charlotte Hodge won the pole vault competition for the Polar Bears, continuing her impressive rookie campaign with a height of 3.75m.
- Jada Scotland capped an outstanding showing by the Polar Bears in the weight throw with a winning distance of 15.00m on the dot. Bowdoin boasted five of the top eight throwers in the event.
- As a team, Bowdoin's depth shined on the day as a number of Polar Bears recorded top-three showings. Full results can be found here.
