MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Bowdoin College men's track & field team tallied its best New England Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship finish since 2016, placing fourth at the competition hosted by Middlebury College this weekend.
Bowdoin scored 54.5 points, a 27.5-point increase from the last championship held in 2020, beating fifth-place Bates by three points and trailing only MIT (152), Williams (69) and Tufts (61) in the final standings. It marked the program's best finish at New England Indoor D-III's since 2016, when the team also took fourth overall.
Meet Highlights
- Ajay Olson continued to roll this winter, winning the 60m with a time of 6.87 (tying his school record) and placing 2nd in the 200m by .01 at the line (21.92).
- Cheng Xing won the long jump by a single centimeter, reaching a distance of 7.19m to take the victory.
- Strong Polar Bear showings on the track included William Warlick's fifth-place finish in the 60m hurdles in a personal-best time of 8.38, Brooks Peters taking fifth in the 1000m (2:33.64), John Auer placing fifth in the mile (4:18.87) and Max Russo earning sixth in the 600m (1:23.40).
- In the field events, Ryan Durkin tied for 4th in the Pole Vault with a jump of 4.45m.
- Bowdoin also had a pair of All-New England relay performances as the 4x400m team of Jared Joyce, Adepoju Arogundade, Parker Beatty, and Max Russo placed fourth with a big season best of 3:26.43, and the 4x800m team of John Auer, Griffin Ott, Peter Enger, and Eli Franklin placed seventh in 8:06.07.
