BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College indoor track & field teams opened their 2022-23 campaigns with the U Bears Alumni Invitational on Saturday at Farley Field House.
 
In a non-scoring meet that included alumni as well as athletes from Husson and Maine-Farmington, a number of Polar Bears reached New England D3 qualification standards in their first outings of the year.
 
Women's Meet Highlights

• Emma Hargreaves picked up wins in both the shot put (12.18m) and weight throw (15.17), qualifying for New England's with both marks. Jada Scotland finished as the runner-up to Hargreaves in the weight throw, also reaching the New England qualifying mark with a throw of 14.02m.
• Charlotte Hodge won the pole vault (3.6m) and was joined by runner-up Sophie Maguire (3.3m) in reaching the NE D3 standard with their performance.
• Additional winners for Bowdoin included Arly Rodriguez in the 200m (28.19), Inga Dovre in the high jump (1.51m), and Anna Yang in the long jump (5.08m).

Men's Meet Highlights

• Nine Polar Bear men reached New England D3 qualification marks on Saturday, including first-place finishers Max Russo in the 400m (51.8), William Warlick in the 60 hurdles (8.58), Ian Stebbins in the pole vault (4.3m), and Cheng Xing in the long jump (6.79m).
• Other qualifiers included Lars Sorom in the 1000m (2:36.41), Adepoju Arogundade in the 60 hurdles (8.69), Nick Sibiryakov in the pole vault (4.15m), Kane Demers in the long jump (6.57m) and Justin Whitney in the triple jump (13.11m).
• Other winners included Cheng Xing in the 60 meter race (7.18) and Adepoju Arogundade in the 200m (23.37), while the 4x400 meter relay team of Jared Joyce, Will Surks, Douglas Bogle and Max Russo won the lone competitive relay event in a time of 3:33.29.
