BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin College sophomore
James McGowan (Westwood, Mass.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
McGowan averaged 22.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and shot 52.0 percent from the field, including draining five 3-pointers, in a pair of wins last week for the Polar Bears. After scoring 17 points with eight boards in a win over the University of New England, McGowan netted 26 of his career-high 28 points in the second half of a comeback win against Babson. It is the first NESCAC Player of the Week honor of McGowan's career and the first NESCAC weekly honor for a Bowdoin player since Jack Simonds in January of 2019.
McGowan and the Polar Bears (3-2) will return to action on Wednesday night when they host Colby in a non-conference game in Morrell Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
