Four Polar Bears Compete at NCAA Championship

LA CROSSE, Wis. - Bowdoin junior Sara Ory earned All-American recognition as a quartet of Polar Bears competed at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships this weekend in Wisconsin.

Ory finished eighth in the 400M hurdles to earn her second All-American honor- her first as an individual. Ory was part of Bowdoin's national championship-winning indoor distance medley relay team this past winter.

Meet Highlights

  • Ory was in ninth place going into the final hurdle, came off with good acceleration into the finish to catch Jessica Fields from Redlands to finish eighth in her second-fastest time of the year (1:01.30).
  • John Pietro finished 13th in the shot put (15.76m) and 17th in the hammer throw (53.92m) in his first appearance at NCAA's.
  • Joseph Staudt improved eight spots on his seeding, finishing 12th in the preliminaries of the 110M hurdles (15.01).
  • Caroline Shipley was 15th in the preliminaries of the 1500M (4:40.21).
