Bowdoin Falls To Williams In 11-8 Loss On Senior Day

BRUNSWICK, ME. - The Bowdoin men's lacrosse team lost 11-8 to Williams in their final home game of the season Saturday afternoon. The Polar Bears recognized 17 seniors as they played their final game at Bowdoin. 

The Polar Bears fall to 8-5 on the season (4-5 NESCAC). Williams improves to 8-6 (6-3 NESCAC).

Game Highlights

  • Williams came out strong in the first period as they scored four goals. Kevin Stump was able to complete a hat trick in the first period of play.
  • Brett Kujala scored a buzzer beater goal as time expired in the first, cutting the Williams lead to 4-2.
  • The Polar Bears also scored the first goal of the second period at 12:23, as Jimmy Young found the back of the net off of a Kujala assist. This made the score 4-3 in favor of Williams.
  • The Ephs tacked on two more in the period, both scored by Stump, as Williams took a 6-3 lead into the half.
  • Rock Stewart added another goal for Williams early in the third period, lengthening the Williams lead to four goals with the score being 7-3.
  • It took no time for the Polar Bears to answer back as Kujala fired a shot into the back of the net, making the score 7-4.
  • Cory Lund then scored back-to-back goals for the Ephs, pushing their advantage to 9-4. 
  • Reed Baker tacked on a goal for Bowdoin at 6:43 of the third period, making the score 9-5.
  • The Ephs added on before the third ended as John Hincks scored at made the score 10-5 Williams heading into the final period of play.
  • Bowdoin outscored Williams 3-1 in the fourth period, but was not enough as Williams won 11-8.

  • Brett Kujala scored a hat trick in the game and also added an assist.
