Polar Bears Compete at NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship

GENEVA, Ohio - The Bowdoin College outdoor track & field team boasted several strong performances at the NCAA Division III Championship last weekend at the SPIRE Institute.

Meet Highlights

  • Junior Benjamin Torda posted the top finish of the weekend for the Polar Bears, taking tenth place in the 3000M steeplechase (9:16.95), just 11 seconds off the winning pace. Torda qualified for the finals with a fifth-place finish in his preliminary heat (9:20.82).
  • Senior javelin thrower Ellen Masalsky moved up nine spots from her pre-championship seeding to take 12th overall in her final meet as a Polar Bear. Masalsky posted a distance of 40.39 meters to jump up from her 21st-place seeding for the event.
  • Senior Colin Tiernan finished 16th in the men's javelin throw, saving his best throw of the day for last. In his third attempt, he launched a distance of 55.80 meters.
  • Junior John Pietro capped his season with a 20th-place finish in the shot put. His initial throw of the day went 14.38 meters, which proved to be his top effort of the day.
