LEWISTON, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's outdoor track & field team claimed its first Maine State Championship since 2009, breaking Bates' string of seven consecutive state crowns with a first-place finish on Saturday in Lewiston.
The Polar Bears finished with a team score of 222, edging the host Bobcats (208.5) in the final team rankings. Colby (81), Southern Maine (68.5), Maine-Farmington (20) and Husson (19) rounded out the field.
Meet Highlights
- Joseph Staudt was named the Alan Hillman Track Athlete of the Meet thanks to a win in the 110m hurdles (14.77) as well as a victory in the long jump (6.63m). He also placed second in the high jump (1.88m)
- Yaw Sekere also provided Bowdoin with a pair of wins, claiming the 100m dash (11.09) and the 200m dash (22.36).
- Matthew Jacobson won the 1500m event in a time of 3:57.53 while Calvin Park claimed the 10,000m run in 31:38.13.
- Ben Torda won the 3000m steeplechase for the Polar Bears in a time of 9:31.77.
