BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team scored the first six goals of the game and cruised to an 18-9 win over Colby on Wednesday night at Ryan Field.
The 12th-ranked Polar Bears (10-3, 7-2 NESCAC) snapped a brief two-game skid in a big way, scoring their most goals in a game since March of 2014. Colby falls to 3-10 (0-8 NESCAC) with the loss.
Game Highlights
- The Polar Bears rolled off six consecutive goals to open the contest and never looked back en route to the win
- Daniel Buckman started and ended the game-opening surge that saw Bowdoin hold a 6-0 lead ten minutes into the contest
- Bowdoin led 7-1 after one period and got a pair of quick goals to open the second quarter from Clayton Wright to extend the lead to 9-1
- The Polar Bears carried a 11-3 lead into intermission thanks to a buzzer-beating score from Brett Kujala before the break
- Colby clawed back into the contest with a 4-2 run to start the third quarter, sparked by a goal and two assists from Austin Sayre, trimming the gap to 13-7
- But the Mules could get no closer as Bowdoin uncorked four straight goals - including a pair just eight seconds apart from Jeffrey Odiorne and Brett Kujala to push the lead into double digits

- Clayton Wright led all players with four goals and four assists in the victory for Bowdoin
- Matthew Crowell and Brett Kujala also had had tricks for the hosts
- Colby was paced by three goals from Kevin Seiler as well as a goal and three assists from Austin Sayre in the loss
- Peter Mumford made 12 saves for Bowdoin in over 59 minutes of play while Colby's Dylan Rothenberg stopped five shots
- The Mules held a 51-36 edge in shots, but only saw 21 of those 51 shots on target. Bowdoin had 23 of its 36 shots on goal and went 3-4 with the man advantage
