Men's Lacrosse Drops Season Opener to Amherst

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The fourth-ranked Amherst College men's lacrosse team built a five-goal first quarter lead and held off a late Bowdoin rally to take a 10-7 win on the opening day of the NESCAC regular season Saturday.

Bowdoin falls to 0-1 this season while Amherst moves to 1-0.

Game Highlights

  • The visitors came out firing, scoring five goals in a 11-minute stretch, including a pair from Kyle Haffey, to take a 5-0 lead after one quarter
  • The teams played a scoreless second quarter before Bowdoin's Brandon Lee and Amherst's Dylan Park traded goals in the third as the visitors held a 7-2 advantage heading into the fourth quarter
  • Amherst scored the first two goals of the frame to push their lead to 9-2 before Bowdoin came storming back
