GORHAM, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's track & field team won the Indoor State Championship for the first time since 2012 on Saturday evening at the University of Southern Maine.

The Polar Bears ran away from the field with a 175 point performance to eclipse Southern Maine (148), Bates (147), Colby (81) and St. Joseph's (1).

Bowdoin's Matthew Jacobson was named the Track Performer of the Meet while Brian Greenberg was named the Field Performer of the Meet.

Meet Highlights

• Greenberg swept the long jump (6.65 meters) and the triple jump (14.26 meters) for Bowdoin
• Jacobson set a new facility record at Costello Field House by winning the 3000 meter run in 8:34.73
• Jacob Ellis took the 800 meter run for Bowdoin in a time of 1:57.02
• Nicholas Walker claimed the 5000 meter race in a time of 15:07.96
• Bowdoin's depth proved to be the difference as the Polar Bears had numerous top-six finishes, including runner-up showings by John Pietro (shot put), Calvin Henry (mile) and Christian Heath (1000 meters) as well as the 4x400 relay team (Nathaniel Kent, Seamus Power, John Keneally, Harrison Porter) and 4x800 relay team (Andrew McGowan, Heath, James Sullivan, Ellis)
