Track & Field Bests Opposition in Final Indoor Invitational

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's and women's track teams swept their final home invitationals of the winter on Saturday at Farley Field House.

The Polar Bear women totaled 193 points to defeat Husson (144), Colby (65) and NEC (36). The Bowdoin men scored 125 points to easily out-pace Colby (23) and NEC (12).

Men's Meet Highlights

  • First-year Harrison Porter led the way for Bowdoin with a pair of wins, capturing the 200 meters (23.34) and 400 meters (52.35)
  • Jibrail Coy led a 1-2-3-4 finish for Bowdoin in the 60 meter dash, finishing in 7.18
  • The Polar Bears also got a pair of first-place finishes from Calvin Henry in the 1000 meter run (2:41.61) and the mile (4:31.19)
  • Other winners on the track included Jacob Ellis (600 meters), Conor Donahue (personal best in the 800 meters), Nicholas Walker (3000 meters), Thomas King (5000 meters) and Andrew Brenner (60 meter hurdles)
  • In the field events, Brian Greenberg set a personal best in the triple jump (14.15 meters)
  • Joseph Staudt won the high jump (1.83 meters), Stephan DeCarlo won the long jump (6.53 meters), and John Pietro took the shot put (13.92 meters)

Women's Meet Highlights

  • First-year Samantha Schaefer led the way for Bowdoin, winning a pair of events - the 60 meter dash (8.25) and the 200 meters (27.28)
  • The Polar Bears posted numerous first place finishes, including in the 400 meters (Allyson Fulton), the 800 meters (Eleanor Brakewood), 1000 meters (Meghan Bellerose), mile (Sarah Kelley) and 3000 meters (Sarah Kinney)
  • Bowdoin won the 4x200 meter relay in 1:52.17 courtesy of Sara Ory, Shekinah Pettway, Schaefer and Naomi Jabouin
  • First-year Carolyn Brady set a personal best in winning the triple jump for Bowdoin (10.32 meters)
  • The Polar Bears dominated the field events as well, getting first-place showings in the high jump (Addison Carvajal), pole vault (Madeline Schuldt) and long jump (Heather Chan)
