BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College track teams hosted their indoor season debut at Farley Field House on Saturday with the men placing first and women taking fourth overall in a five-team field.
In the men's meet the Polar Bears racked up 191 points to defeat RPI (184), WPI (168), Wheaton (10) and UMF (6). WPI took the women's meet with 167.5 points to defeat RPI (154.5), Wheaton (133), the Polar Bears (128) and UMF (1).
Men's Meet Highlights
- The Polar Bear men were extremely impressive, winning several individual events
- On the track John Keneally won the 600 meters (1:24.05), Conor Donahue took the 800 meter race (2:00.82), Nicholas Walker won the 5000 meters (15:23.28) and Nathaniel Kent took the 60 meter hurdles (8.72)
- The 4x800 meter relay team of Myles Caldwell, Connor Rocket, Christian Heath and Matt Jacobson took first in 8:20.17
- In the field, Stephan DeCarlo placed first in the long jump (6.73 meters) and Brian Greenberg won the triple jump (14.10 meters)
- Joseph Staudt posted 4,062 points to earn the win in the heptathlon for Bowdoin
Women's Meet Highlights
- Despite finishing fourth, the women's team had several individual winners
- In the field events, Katharine Krupp took the triple jump with a school-record distance of 11.60 meters while Pamela Zabala won the shot put with a throw of 11.73 meters
- On the track Meghan Bellerose won the 800 meters (2:21.43) while Sarah Kelley won the one mile run (5:08.97)
- Addison Carvajal swept all five events in winning the pentathlon with a score of 3,328 points
