LEWISTON, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's track and field team placed second on Saturday evening at the Maine State Championship.
The Polar Bears totaled 146 points to finish just behind meet champion Bates (177 points). Southern Maine (143), Colby (76) and St. Joseph's (12) rounded out the competing teams.
Matt Jacobson was the lone state champion for the Polar Bears, capturing the first event - the 5000 meters - in a time of 15:18.79. Bowdoin's Latif Armiyaw set a new school record in the 60 meter dash (7.07), finishing third, while Brian Greenberg was second in the triple jump with a school-record distance of 14.32 meters.
Other top showings included Jacob Ellis' second-place finish in the 800 meters (1:58.91), Jarred Kennedy-Loving's runner-up spot in the 200 meters (22.87) and Nick Walker's second place finish in the 3000 meters (8:48.12).
In the field events, Chris Genco placed second in the long jump (6.84 meters) and the high jump (1.96 meters).
The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday at the Dave Hemery Invitational hosted by Boston University.
