Box Score HOBOKEN, N.J. - The Bowdoin College women's soccer team saw its season come to a close in a 4-1 loss to Stevens Institute on Sunday evening.
The Polar Bears finish the season with a record of 13-6-1 as the six-player senior class (Bridget McCarthy, Jamie Hofstetter, Rachel Brooke, Sarah Wallace, Maggie Godley, Kiersten Turner) finishes a phenomenal career with 48 wins and four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
How It Happened
- After a back-and-forth first 15 minutes, Stevens struck twice in a span of 1:43 to take the lead midway through the opening period
- Zisi Komar put home a rebound and Raba Nassif scored an unassisted goal at 16:17 and 18:00, respectively, to put the Ducks ahead 2-0 at intermission
- Nassif extended Stevens' lead to three goals with a score at 54:25
- Bowdoin answered quickly with a nice feed from Jamie Hofstetter to Nikki Wilson, who scored her second goal in as many days just 16 seconds later to cut the lead to 3-1
- But Bowdoin's bid to get back into the contest was short-lived as the Ducks replied with Nassif's third goal just five minutes later, at 59:56, to seal the win
- Stevens held a 23-18 edge in shots for the match despite Bowdoin owning an 8-2 edge in corner kicks
- Bridget McCarthy stood tall, making seven saves, her third-highest total of the season, in the loss.
- In the contest, McCarthy broke her own school record (set in 2012) with 1671:51 in goal this year. She finishes her career at Bowdoin with more time in net than any other goaltender in school history - men's or women's - with 6049:58 minutes between the pipes for the Polar Bears (over four full days)
