Women's Soccer Shuts Out Maine Maritime In Tuesday Matchup

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's soccer team controlled play and scored a pair of second half goals to collect a 2-0 win over visiting Maine Maritime on Tuesday evening.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 7-3-0 and drop the Mariners to 8-3-0.
 
Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears dominated offensively but could not break through in the first 45 minutes of action.
  • Kayley Huleatt had a shot that beat MMA's goalie only to be turned away at the goal line by a defender. Stephanie Christianson had an equally promising shot from point-blank range denied by Isa Thesing.
  • Just over 14 minutes into the second half Bowdoin continued to pressure with another Christianson bid that narrowly missed over the crossbar.
  • Bowdoin finally scored in the 70th minute. Huleatt put the ball in from a corner kick on the right and Kyra Hacker beat Thesing with a header into the net.
  • Shortly after, a quick sequence had Cadence Lee hitting the crossbar followed by Huleatt's rebound shot connecting with the hands of Thesing.
  • Christianson doubled the tally for Bowdoin in the 83rd minute, finishing off a straight through ball from Ashley Ahn.

  • Charlotte Iannone stuffed a pair of breakaway shot attempts.
  • Thesing made 12 saves for the Mariners.
  • Bowdoin lined up 11 corner kicks and allowed only one.
