Women's Soccer Topples Trinity in 1-0 Shutout

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's soccer secured a 1-0 victory over Trinity on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears are 8-3-0 (3-3-0 NESCAC), while dropping the Bantams to 5-4-2 (1-4-1 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin nearly went up 1-0 early in the first half as Kayley Huleatt drove deep to the end line. Huleatt drew the goalie and had an open low-angle look on net, but watched as a defender blocked her pass attempt to the center.
  • The Polar Bears broke through in the 61st minute. Jackie Shores controlled the ball through the middle of the field and passed right to Mary Rainey. Rainey made two steps to get her defender off balance and sent a low shot past Lily Bracken.
 
By the Numbers
  • Trinity held a slight 13-10 edge in shots but an impressive 9-2 edge in shots on goal.
  • Charlotte Iannone made nine saves for the shutout.
  • Backen made one stop for Trinity.
  • Bowdoin lined up seven corner kicks and allowed three.
