Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Lan Crofton posted her third shutout of the season as the Bowdoin women's ice hockey team defeated Wesleyan 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears leave Connecticut with an 8-3-3 mark including a 4-1-1 record in conference action. The Cardinals slide to 5-7-1 (1-6-1 NESCAC).
Chelsea MacNeil netted the first goal of the game 12:45 into the contest, giving Bowdoin the 1-0 edge. MacNeil finished off a 2-on-1 breakaway started at center ice with a move past the Wesleyan defense. Following a bit of traffic in the crease, MacNeil poked in the Polar Bears first of the game
Bowdoin added the insurance marker at 3:16 of the second period on a nice move inside the Wesleyan blue line by Maddie Baird as she deked past a defender to gain control in the high slot and sent a wrister past Corinne Rivard low to the glove side with traffic in front.
Crofton made 30 saves in a complete game performance, as Rivard made 28 on the opposite end.
Bowdoin hosts Middlebury in a NESCAC series beginning next Friday at 7:00 p.m.
