Williams Sweeps Women's Hockey to Close Out Regular Season Schedule

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Bowdoin women's hockey team could not catch Williams in a competitive 3-2 loss to close out the regular season on Saturday.

The Polar Bears head into the postseason with an 11-12-0 (5-11-0 NESCAC) record. The Ephs are 16-3-5 (9-3-4 NESCAC) heading into the tournament.

Game Highlights
  • The Ephs scored in the final three minutes of the first period to take a 1-0 lead. Zoe Rosenberg put a shot on pads at the left post and continued sliding past to the boards. Abby Matusovich made the initial save, but Leah Rubinsteyn came through and put away the rebound.
  • Seconds after killing off a penalty, the Ephs doubled their lead in the second. Charlotte Fetherston came up with the puck in the Williams zone while down a skater and raced down the right boards. Skyler Moore came out of the box as Fetherstone came through and the pair skated into Bowdoin territory. Fetherstone converted with a wrister from the right side, capitalizing on the threat of an open Moore.
  • Bowdoin came out and scored in the first two minutes of the third. Sofia Nesvold set up the play with a pinpoint pass to the tape of Bella Mele on the inside edge of the left circle. Mele lasered a shot past Erin Pye.
  • Williams extended its lead at the midway point of the third period, off a goal by Annie Gallagher on the power play.
  • The Polar Bears kept the pressure on with an answering goal four minutes later. Meghan Britt and Luna Lu traded the puck back-and-forth before Lu finally finished on the right post for a shorthanded tally.
