AMHERST, Mass. – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team nearly completed a major upset in the NESCAC Quarterfinals but fell 2-1 in overtime at Amherst.
The Polar Bears end the year with an 11-13-0 record after finishing seventh in league play. The second-ranked Mammoths advance to the semifinals with a 17-2-6 season.
Game Highlights
- The Mammoths took a 1-0 lead at 8:55 in the second period. Sami Lester buried a backhander through the five-hole right in front of Sarah Peterson.
- Peterson kept Bowdoin within striking distance with a save on Bea Flynn's point-blank shot after intercepting a breakout pass in the Bowdoin zone early in the third.
- Bowdoin forced overtime with a goal midway through the third on the power play. Luna Lua wrapped around the Amherst net and came out wide before finding Meghan Britt for one-timer.
- Amherst took the win in overtime, just 1:27 into extra time on the power play. Bea Flynn put a shot on pads and Ayla Abban put the rebound inside the left post.

- Peterson kept the Polar Bears in the game with a season-high 48 saves. The junior's career high was set in her first year against Adrian with a total of 49.
- Amherst went 1-for-8 on the power play.
