BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's and women's track teams each finished third at the Bowdoin Invitational I hosted at Farley Field House on Saturday.
MIT won both meets, scoring 283 points to claim the women's meet, followed by WPI (105), Bowdoin (95), Springfield (56), RPI (41) and Colby-Sawyer (4). MIT totaled 204.33 points to win the men's competition, followed by WPI (102), Bowdoin (95), RPI (91.5), Springfield (42.83) and Colby-Sawyer (19.33).
Chris Genco was Bowdoin's top performer, winning the men's long jump with a distance of 6.66 meters. Other top showings for the Polar Bear men were second-place finishes from Matt Jacobson in the 5000 meters (15:18.79) and Nathaniel Kent in the 60 meter hurdles (8.61).
In the women's meet, Bowdoin had several runner-up finishes, including Emily Clark in the 200 meter dash (26.72) and Naomi Jabouin in the 400 meter dash (1:02.72). In the field events, Randi London took second place in both the shot put (12.06 meters) and the weight throw (14.68 meters) while Hayleigh Kein was second in the high jump (1.63 meters) and Erin Silva was runner-up in the pole vault (3.75 meters).
The top relay finish for Bowdoin was the women's 4x200 meter squad of Georgia Bolduc, Jabouin, Shekinah Pettway and Paola Maymi that took second place in 1:50.07.
Bowdoin will be back in action next weekend as they host the Bowdoin Invitational II on January 24 at Farley Field House.
