Ellis Sets School Record, Wins 800M at Open New England Championships

WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Bowdoin College outdoor track & field team posted several impressive finishes at the Open New England Championship this weekend at Westfield State University.

Jacob Ellis headlined the weekend for Bowdoin by winning the 800 meter run in a field that included numerous Division I runners.

Ellis finished in a time of 1:49.66, eclipsing the school record of 1:50.68 set by Chris Downe '00. It also is the fastest time posted by a Division III runner in the 800 meters this season.

Kevin Hoose finished third in the 3000 meter steeplechase, recording a time of 9:17.95 while Sam Seekins took third in the 5000 meters in a time of 14:32.67.

Erin Silva posted the top individual finish for the women's team by placing third in the pole vault. Silva cleared a height of 3.70 meters.

The Polar Bears finished 14th among competing men's teams and 31st overall in the women's field.
