GORHAM, Maine - The Bowdoin College indoor track and field teams opened their 2014-15 campaign at the Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
In the women's meet, Brenna Fischer led the Bowdoin performances on the track by winning the 3000 meter run (11:04.61). In the field events, Erin Silva claimed the pole vault (11-6.25), Heather Chan won the long jump (15-10.5) and Katharine Krupp took first in the triple jump (36-10.5). Bowdoin's 4x800 meter relay team of Allyson Fulton, Raleigh McElvery, Alana Menendez, Meghan Bellerose also placed first in a time of 10:58.47.
On the men's side, Conor Donahue won the 1,000 meter run (2:36.68), Matt Jacobson took the two mile run (9:41.48) and Nathaniel Kent took the 55-meter hurdles (8.31). Cam Woodford took first place in the shot put for Bowdoin with a toss of 44-08.75 and was also the top collegiate finisher in the weight throw with a distance of 47-02.5.
Bowdoin will return to action on Saturday, January 10 when they host Connecticut College in a dual meet at Farley Field House beginning at noon.
