BRUNSWICK, Maine - Five different players scored and Tara Connolly stopped 20 shots as the Bowdoin College women's ice hockey team continued to roll in a 5-0 blanking of Trinity on Friday evening at Sidney J. Watson Arena.

Bowdoin improves to 9-7-3 (7-4-0 NESCAC) with the win while Trinity falls to 11-8-0 (6-5-0 NESCAC). The win is the third straight overall for the Polar Bears, who have posted consecutive league shutouts for the first time since January of 2007.

After a back and forth first period with multiple scoring opportunities for both teams, Bowdoin capitalized first on a breakaway. Kim Tess-Wanat received a sharp breakout pass from Kayte Holtz and beat Trinity's Alexa Pujol at 16:05 to give the hosts the lead after one frame.

Bowdoin's offense took over in the second period.  Shelagh Merrill increased Bowdoin's lead to 2-0 with a wide angle shot from the top of the left circle that went over the outstretched blocker of Pujol at 5:48. A turnover by Pujol while clearing the puck led to Bowdoin's second goal of the period as Mallory Andrews intercepted the outlet pass and scored an easy open net goal at 9:11. The Polar Bears scored their third goal of the period when Madeline Lane deflected a shot from the point at 13:01.

Chelsea MacNeil banged in her own rebound to increase the lead to 5-0 to round out the scoring.
