BRUNSWICK, Maine - For the second straight night, the Bowdoin College women's ice hockey team scored three goals in the third period to defeat Williams, this time taking a 3-0 win on Saturday afternoon at Watson Arena.
The Polar Bears dominated but couldn't find the net until late in the third, when Kayte Holtz, Mallory Andrews and Chelsea MacNeil all scored in a span of 3:53 to give Bowdoin a weekend sweep of the Ephs. Kayla Lessard made 15 saves in the shutout as Bowdoin improves to 8-7-3 (6-4-0) and vaults into third place in the NESCAC standings with the wins. Williams falls to 9-9-0 (5-5-0) and stands in fifth place in the conference ladder after the weekend.
Bowdoin out-shot Williams 20-12 over the first two periods and went scoreless on a power play to open the final frame. On their second power play of the third period, Kendra Sweet handled the puck at the blue line and fed Kim Tess-Wanat on the left circle, who found Kayte Holtz in front for a one-timer at 14:07. Just over a minute later, Stephanie Ludy won a battle for the puck against the boards and slipped a pass in front to Andrews, who redirected the puck through the pads of Chloe Billadeau at 15:14. Bowdoin sealed the win with two minutes remaining as Holtz fed MacNeil for a power play goal.
Billadeau made 30 saves in the loss for Williams, who went 0-3 on the power play.
