BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin's Kayte Holtz scored the game-winning goal with just 1:32 remaining to give the Polar Bear women's ice hockey team a 4-3 win over Williams on Friday evening at Watson Arena. With the win, Bowdoin (14-7-2, 9-5-1 NESCAC) clinches a home NESCAC Quarterfinal for the first time since 2006. The Ephs fall to 4-15-1, 3-11-1 in the NESCAC.

Williams struck first when Eliza Foster scored off a lose puck in front just 3:53 into Friday night's game. The Polar Bears evened the game with a one timer from Holtz to Sweet. Bowdoin gained the lead in the final minute of the first period when Sweet beat goalie Rachel Nguyen between the legs off a deflection from the point. With just under five minutes left in the second period, Williams tied the score with a nice shot by Sam Weinstein, beating Connolly glove side.
Bowdoin regained the lead halfway through the third when Dominque Lozzi banged home a rebound off a shot from Alexandra Fahey, but Williams' Sarah Herr scored on a loose puck in front for the Ephs to tie the game at three with eight minutes remaining.
With 1:32 left in the game, following a lengthy power play kill by Bowdoin, Kayte Holtz made a nice move down the right size of the ice, weaved through defenders and ripped a shot to the upper right hand corner of the net for the game winner.
Tara Connolly made 21 saves for the Polar Bears while Rachel Nguyen had 29 saves for the Ephs. The Polar Bears return to action tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 p.m. when they host Middlebury on Senior Day.
