Bowdoin Dispatches Wesleyan With Six-Goal Surge

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Bowdoin College women's ice hockey team rallied from a first-period deficit to score the game's final six goals in a 6-1 win at Wesleyan on Friday evening. The Polar Bears improve to 13-6-2 overall this season with the win. The Cardinals fall to 2-16-1.

Stephanie Ludy led Bowdoin with two goals while Kenzie Novak had a goal and two assists.

Trailing 1-0 after the first period, Ludy scored just 2:17 into the frame to tie the score. Six minutes later, Bowdoin gained the lead for good on a goal from Novak to take a 2-1 lead after two periods.

Bowdoin pulled away with a dominant third period. Ludy, Kim Tess-Wanat, Madeline Lane and Emily Tang all notched goals to seal the victory. Sage Santangelo made 12 saves in the win. Ashleigh Corvi made 34 stops in the loss for the Cardinals.

Bowdoin extended its dominance over Wesleyan with the victory, as the Polar Bears now stand 41-3-1 all-time against Wesleyan and are 23-0-1 in the last 24 meetings between the teams.

Both teams return to the ice on Saturday as Wesleyan hosts Colby College at 3:00, while Bowdoin travels to Trinity College for a 3:00 tilt. The Polar Bears can clinch a NESCAC Quarterfinal home game with a victory.
