BEVERLY, Mass. - The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team
extended their win streak to three games as Billy Bergner scored
four times in a 9-6 win over Endicott on Saturday afternoon. The
Polar Bears move over .500, improving to 6-5, while the Gulls fall
to 8-6.
Bergner added an assist to his four-goal afternoon to lead all
scorers. Russell Halliday had a goal and three helpers while Adam
Tracy had a pair of goals and one assist. Chris Williamson made 13
saves in the win for Bowdoin. Jonathan Prentice had two goals for
Endicott.
Trailing 1-0 heading into the second quarter, Bowdoin rattled off
three straight tallies in a span of 2:33. Berger took a feed from
Halliday for the first score and then returned the favor to
Halliday just 1:30 later. Adam Tracy took a pass from Halliday to
give Bowdoin a 3-1 advantage. After an Endicott two-goal spurt,
Bowdoin regained the lead with scores from Tracy and Bergner to
carry a 5-3 edge into the break.
After the teams traded third-period scores, Berger put the game
away in the fourth quarter with goals at 12:14 and 5:38 to give the
Polar Bears a commanding 8-4 lead. Owen Smith put the game on ice
with a late insurance goal for Bowdoin.
Bowdoin looks for its fourth straight win on Wednesday evening
with a NESCAC game against Bates scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
