BOX SCORE
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Williams College women's ice hockey team
twice rallied from one-goal deficits to take a 3-2 win over Bowdoin
in both team's regular season finale on Saturday afternoon. The
Ephs (12-10-2) claim the fourth seed in the NESCAC Tournament with
the win while the Polar Bears (11-11-2) drop to the fifth seed. The
two teams will play against next Saturday, February 27, at Williams
in a NESCAC quarterfinal game scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
Tracey Ferriter had two goals for Williams, including the
game-winning tally at 8:17 of the third period. Bowdoin received a
goal and an assist apiece from Kate Pokrass and Jill Campbell.
Bowdoin took a first-period lead courtesy of Pokrass' fourth goal
of the season with 3:05 remaining in the frame, only to see the
Ephs take advantage of a power play to tie the game on Ferriter's
first goal of the contest with 35 seconds left in the stanza. The
visitors again took a one-goal lead at the midway point of the
second period thanks to Campbell, but another power play chance
resulted in a Williams goal as Eliza Foster found the back of the
cage.
Ferriter notched the game-winner with 11:43 to go, but the Polar
Bears could not find the equalizer. Kayla Lessard stopped 26 shots
in goal for Bowdoin. Sara Plunkett made 25 stops for the Ephs.
