Women's Hockey Win Streak Snapped at Codfish Bowl

BOX SCORE

BOSTON, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's ice hockey team was held scoreless for the first time this season, dropping a 3-0 decision to Trinity in the opening day of the Codfish Bowl hosted by UMass-Boston on Saturday. The Polar Bears (4-3-1) see their four-game unbeaten streak come to an end in the loss.

Bowdoin will play Lake Forest in the consolation match of the tournament on Sunday at noon.

Senior goaltender Isabel Iwachiw made 24 saves to record her third shutout of the season and 14th of her career to lead Trinity to the win. Following a scoreless period, junior defenseman Laura Komarek and junior forward Kim Weiss combined to set up sophomore forward Brigitte Cellino for her first goal of the season on the power play at 6:49 of the second period to put the Bantams on the board. Junior forward Jill Roloff padded the Trinity lead with her fourth tally of the year coming on a slap shot from the top of the left circle with just 23 seconds left in the middle period for a 2-0 margin.

Sophomore forward Celia Colman-McGaw capped the scoring with an insurance goal for the Bantams coming on an unassisted score for her fourth marker of the campaign at 5:06 of the third period.

Bowdoin was called for nine penalties on the afternoon to Trinity's three, but permitted just one powerplay goal in eight chances. Sophomore goalie Sage Santangelo stopped 26 shots for the Polar Bears.
