BOX SCORE
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's ice hockey
team snapped a three-game losing skid, coming within 25 seconds of
shutting out Williams in a 2-1 victory on Sunday afternoon. The
Polar Bears improve to 4-10-1 while the Ephs drop to 6-11-1 on the
year.
Bowdoin's first strike came midway through the second period, when
sophomore forward Michaela Calnan threw a shot at the Ephs net from
the blue line which deflected off a body in front for her second
score of the season. The second goal was registered soon after a
Bowdoin penalty kill, as a Polar Bear dump-in took a strange bounce
off the boards and ricocheted right in front of the Eph net. The
puck was swatted in by rookie forward Katie Herter for her third
goal on the year.
Williams was able to score with an extra attacker with just 25
seconds left, but couldn't find the game-tying goal. The Polar
Bears are 5-1-1 in their last seven meetings against the Ephs.
Sage Santangelo made 27 saves in the victory for Bowdoin while Sara
Plunkett stopped 28 for Williams.
