BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Connecticut College women's ice hockey
team skated to a 4-2 victory over Bowdoin in NESCAC action at
Sidney J. Watson Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Camels (3-8-3,
3-3-2 NESCAC) have won four-straight overall against the Polar
Bears (3-9-1, 1-7-1).
Things looked good for Bowdoin in the opening minutes, as
Dominique Lozzi took a feed from Shana Natelson and netted the
game's first goal just 4:55 into the contest. Jill Campbell was
able to double Bowdoin's lead just 49 seconds later as she
deposited a shorthanded chance on a breakaway to make it 2-0 Polar
Bears. But the Camels responded with a pair of goals later in the
frame. Katelyn Driscoll and Caroline Jeffery both scored their
first goals of the season as Connecticut College rallied to tie the
score at the end of one period.
Erin Davey scored the lone goal of the second frame, knocking home
a puck in front to give the visitors the lead at 1:24 of the second
period. Camel goaltender Lauren Mellen made the lead stand,
stopping 21 shots in the second and third frames and finishing with
26 total for the game. Celia Medeiros added a third-period
insurance goal at 2:02 to seal the victory for Connecticut College.
Sage Santangelo stopped 22 shots in defeat for Bowdoin.
