BOX SCORE
WATERVILLE, Maine - Becky Julian netted a hat trick to lead the
Colby women's ice hockey team to a 4-2 win over Bowdoin at Alfond
Rink Saturday. The Polar Bears fall to 1-3 overall this year while
the Mules improve to 3-1-1.
Colby took the lead just a minute into the game, as Julian
netted the game's first goal. Lindsay McNamara evened the score
with a tally off an assist from Alexandra Chlebeck six minutes
later, but a late goal by Julian gave the Mules a 2-1 lead after
one period. Julian scored the only goal of the second period - this
one coming less than two minutes into the frame - to give Colby a
3-1 advantage heading into the third.
Collette Finley scored for Colby 2:36 into the final stanza
before Jill Campbell trimmed the lead to 4-2 at 11:44 off an assist
from Katie Pokrass. Colby's Lacey Brown made the lead stand from
there, stopping 32 shots for the Mules. Bowdoin's Sage Santangelo
made 22 stops for Bowdoin, who held a 34-26 advantage in shots.
The Polar Bears will return to action on January 3 when they
face Manhattanville College at Saint Anselm.
