Lindsay E. McNamara, of the Class of 2009, was one of the most decorated athletes in the history of Division III field hockey, and helped lead Bowdoin’s field hockey program to previously unimagined heights.

McNamara’s ability to find the net was dependable and legendary. She graduated holding every scoring record in program history, including single-game, single-season and career records for goals, assists and points. Her extraordinary individual accolades include two-time Division III Player of the Year; two-time NESCAC Player of the Year; three-time All-American; three-time First Team All-New England; and three-time First Team All-NESCAC. She led the team to four NESCAC championships and, in 2007, her three goals in the national championship game carried the program to the College’s first NCAA title in any sport. In 2008, she sealed back-to-back national championships with a title-winning double-overtime goal. Over the course of her Bowdoin career, the Polar Bears won an astounding seventy-four games against a mere five losses.

McNamara also attained varsity letters in ice hockey and lacrosse during her time at Bowdoin, including three seasons for the women’s ice hockey team, where she scored forty-six points in sixty-six contests as a defenseman.
