MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Bowdoin College women's golf team placed fifth in a tightly-contested 12-team field at the George Phinney Classic, hosted by Middlebury College at the par-71 Ralph Myhre Golf Course this weekend.
The Polar Bears posted rounds of 316 and 320 for a two-day total of 636. The top five teams were separated by just 11 strokes, with Middlebury taking the team title at 625, followed by Williams (628), Amherst (631), Hamilton (632) and Bowdoin (636).
Weekend Highlights
- Emily Renoff and Katie Ng led the Polar Bears with matching two-day totals of 158, tying for ninth overall. Renoff opened with an 80 before closing with a 78, while Ng carded rounds of 77 and 81. - Hailey Lim gave Bowdoin three finishers among the top 15, tying for 14th overall with rounds of 78 and 81 for a 159 total.
- Allison Le tied for 21st at 161, improving by a stroke on Sunday with rounds of 81 and 80.
- Isabella Salerno made the biggest improvement of the weekend for Bowdoin, shaving seven strokes off her opening round with a final-round 82 to finish at 171.
- Bowdoin finished just four strokes out of fourth place and five strokes behind third, while holding a nine-stroke advantage over sixth-place Wesleyan.
