Coach Pizzo's Report - March 16

The Bowdoin Sailing Team just returned from a week of training at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida.  We were able to get lots of time on the water, including some valuable reps at the Spring Fleet Race Nationals venue.  The team returned to New England this past weekend to compete in the Women's Southern NE Team Race at Connecticut College and the Open Team competed at the Geiger Trophy at Coast Guard.
 
The Southern New England Team Race conditions were cold and windy for most the weekend. Bowdoin finished with a record of 7-5 throughout the weekend, including going 3-2 in the Final 6. The Polar Bears finished fourth out of eight teams. Lauren Russler, Kyra Phelan, Izzy Tsuchitori, Rebecca Schill, Mairéad Reitzel, Maizie Bartlett, Maggie Tripp competed for the Polar Bears with Posie Cabaniss and Ava Tobias as reserves.
 
At Coast Guard, Bowdoin competed in the Geiger Trophy. Conditions were similar to Connecticut College. The Polar Bears finished with a record of 6-6 on the day, finishing third overall. Michelangelo Vecchio, Kique Ruiz, Kai Olson, Lucca Antonietti, Elizabeth Wire, Ethan Danielson, Henry Ladd, Hazel Johnson, and Lottie Pare competed for Bowdoin.
 
This upcoming weekend, the team will compete at the KP open Team Race at King's Point, the Duplin Trophy at Tufts, and the Hawks TR at Roger Williams.
