CRAFTSBURY, Vt. – The Bowdoin Nordic team improved one place overall to earn fifth amongst Nordic teams at the UVM Carnival on February 6-7.
The Polar Bear women finished second overall on day one and fifth on day two. The men were eighth and seventh.
Carnival Highlights
- Friday's classic sprint format allowed for 50 qualifiers skiing in heats of ten, rather than the usual six. Crum ultimately secured her second podium of the season, narrowly missing out on first, after breezing through the quarterfinals and semifinals.
- Jordan Grialou qualified for the finals and ended the day with a top-ten finish. Keir Scott and Ruth Krebs both skied in the quarterfinals and finished 27th and 28th, respectively. Gillian Fairfax snagged 30th.
- Lars Sorom paced the men's side and finished 15th on Friday. Sorom skied his way into the semifinals. Sawyer Weale was the second finisher for Bowdoin, earning 33rd.
- Saturday boasted a 10k individual start freestyle on a couple inches of fresh light snow, making for slower conditions.
- Crum narrowly missed out on the podium in day two, finishing fourth. Fairfax jumped up into 13thand Krebs finished 18th. Scott and Grialou finished back-to-back in 20th and 21st.
- Oliver Swaby led the men with a top-30 finish. Eli Shifrin was Bowdoin's second finisher in 36th.
